TV GUIDE: Three’s Company (Mrs. Roper)
12x8 oil on panel, black floater frame
Who doesn't love Helen Roper from "Three's Company"? Well, I guess people who hate randy women, for a start. I'm pretty sure Mrs. Roper was TV's first cougar*.
*If you're unfamiliar with the term cougar, Grandma … do you mind if I call you Grandma? A cougar is "A woman 40 years or older, in her sexual prime, emotionally more mature, healthy and energetic." They generally prefer younger men who can keep up. Ahem. I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable with the wording of that last sentence, either. Moving on.
This may just be a Gen X thing, but have you heard about the Mrs. Roper Pub Crawls? Where thousands of women put on muumuus, red wigs and cheap costume jewelry, and go on … you guessed it … a pub crawl! And thank you for playing "That's Obvious". The game show where everyone knows the answers and the prize is undeservedly-smug satisfaction.
Final Note: If you don't think cosplaying as the effervescent Mrs. Roper and hitting a bunch of bars with thousands of other Mrs. Ropers sounds amazing, were you always this much of a buzzkill?
