Sprinkled With Joy

Baking sugar cookies had always been our family's Christmas tradition, and it was never just about the cookies!

Little hands helped mix and measure, sneaking tastes of dough when they thought I wasn't looking… only to be caught by the flour dusting their mouths and chins. I rolled out the dough, and they picked their favorite cookie cutters, leaving a trail of flour everywhere.

Then, as flour "volcanoes" and "creatures" started appearing all along the counter, I put on my best tired Mommy voice, pretending to be so tired of the mess…

until I started it…

the Christmas flour fight!

Laughter and squeals filled the kitchen as flour was flicked into the air, and handprints appeared on clothes.

With our faces still smudged with flour, the scent of warm cookies, and the feeling of Christmas magic filling the air, we couldn't have asked for a better mess to make together.
