Nature’s Quiet Refrain
An impact greater than the sum of its parts.
During my studies in art, the concept of creating a series—ten or more pieces—was emphasized by several instructors. Yet, it didn’t fully resonate with me until one of them said, “A series hung together has the strength of a chorus.”
That struck me. As someone who has both played and taught music to children, those words ignited something in me. I realized that even a collection of small paintings carries that same power, like voices unified, each one contributing to the larger whole.
When I look at art, I often find visual echoes of musical elements. There’s harmony in the way colors blend, rhythm in repeated patterns, texture that creates depth and focal points that serve as “stars of the show." Just like in music, all the elements come together to form something greater, something that resonates on a deeper level.
A series of paintings, like a chorus, creates an impact greater than the sum of its parts.
