"Hummingbird"

When I create my pieces, I don't do it with the intention of making something like a bird or a dragon, but sometimes, that's what pops up. This is the phenomenon called pareidolia. We tend to see meaningful images in ambiguous visual patterns. Like seeing a face in a cloud. In this case, I decided to elaborate on the hummingbird I saw. The head originally had no color in it. As I filled it in, this little guy, or girl, came to life!  Hummingbirds represent joy, freedom, perseverance, creativity, love and healing. I really hope to see a real one, one day. Until then, I'm happy to paint them when they pop up in my work.

"Hummingbird" is a 10x10 canvas in a black handmade wooden floating frame. Varnished for protection. Wired and ready for hanging.
