The Grinch and Max

6x6 oil on panel, black floater frame

The Grinch's dog Max was my favorite character in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I do identify with the Grinch, tho. He's the kinda' person who prefers talking to a volley-ball named Wilson, than going out and meeting people. If all of us misanthropes ever decided to meet up, we'd have our cameras and microphones turned off, and I can't think of a better zoom call.

Boris Karloff (the Hollywood horror icon) was the narrator and the voice of The Grinch. They cast the guy who played Frankenstein, for a kids show, fer gawd's sake! I mean… who saw the movie, Frankenstein, and thought that monster-guy would make a great lead in a children's Christmas special?

Well, whoever it was, that person was a genius.

The theme song was also genius. Who knew the man who gave us The Cat in the Hat, was so good at writing insults?

It's full of gems like:

Your sole is an appalling dump heap
Overflowing with the most disgraceful
Assortment of deplorable rubbish
Imaginable, mangled up in tangled up knots

Go look up the lyrics … it really is the greatest Christmas song ever written. :D
