I've always been fascinated by the Pacific, but more in a "I understand you are mightier and more vast than I could ever imagine, and I am puny in comparison." But I read stories about how the Polynesians had made contact with Native Americans before European contact and how there is DNA evidence for this. It made sense to paint a Tahitian dancer then for my minis, an ode to their incredible adventurous spirit and tenacity.
