In my grief there have been so many metaphors, so many instances of seeing something in nature, in architecture, in house and home that remind me and provide perspective. I would look at Dad's drawings of gates and be reminded of our own skeletal system, the structure, the purpose, the support and all of it would provide me new ways of seeing death as a part of the process.
