Puffin Stuff

Atlantic puffins are cool-looking birds. The color on the beak alone is amazing and this particular bird has serious attitude! This oil painting, titled Puffin Stuff, measures 8.5" x 8.5" x 1.5" deep and is framed in a custom grey-stained wood floater frame. It is wired to hang on a wall or can sit on a shelf. This mini comes wrapped and ready for holiday gifting to a special someone or to add to your own art collection!

An Atlantic puffin's beak is flamboyant in coloration. This makes them attractive to a potential mate. They actually shed the colorful outer layer once their breeding season is over and they return to the ocean, making it a dull brown and smaller in size. This makes them less obvious to both predators and their prey. The cool thing is they have ultraviolet coloration and photoluminescence patches on their bills. This is thought to be a marker of fitness that helps them to choose mates. It is invisible to us humans without the use of a blacklight!
