Hole In One

This mini, titled Hole In One, is a grey phased little screech owl in its nesting cavity. I have yet to see one in the wild, but I keep trying. Any tree hole I am looking for them! It's a matter of time! This oil painting measures 8.5" x 8.5" x 1.5" deep and is framed in a custom charcoal-grey stained wood floater frame. It is wired to hang on a wall or can sit on a shelf. This mini comes wrapped and ready for holiday gifting to a special someone or to add to your own art collection!

The eastern screech owl has two distinct color morphs: grey and rufous. Both colorings are well camouflaged to blend in with tree bark. They are 6 – 10" in length with a wingspan of 19 – 24". The females are larger than the males. Screech owls nest in tree cavities. They have tufts on either side of their heads and blend in well with the surrounding tree bark. They get their name from their mournful shaking wails that descend in pitch. The eastern screech owl is considered to have a stable conservation status.
