Flamenco in Red

Dance has always inspired me. Which is ironic since I'm a terrible dancer. Or may I'm not, but I'm too much of a worry wort to actually know if I'm a good dancer or not. A long time ago, our school had a televised event during which all the kids were required to dance. I danced with abandon during the rehearsals, but the moment the camera came one I thought "what if someone sees me on tv and thinks I look silly." And so a new worry was born. I try often to let go and dance like no one is watching. But it doesn't always work. So I settle for the next best thing: I love to paint dancers. I'm starting of the 25 days with this emotive flamenco dancer. Her grace and passion were palpable and so to translate that onto my canvas, I kept those luscious brushstrokes visible and prominent. It adds to the moody and passionate character of the painting.
