African Penguin

This African Penguin is one of the many penguins in a thriving colony at Boulders Beach in Cape Town, South Africa . This endangered bird wanders freely in a protected natural environment set in a residental area. From just 2 breeding pairs in 1982, the penguin colony has grown to about 2,200 in recent years .They are a monogamous species and lifelong partners take turns to incubate their eggs and to feed their young.  I was so fortunate to see them in person this September.
